The Mechanical Advantage of All-on-6

While the All-on-4 method is a revolutionary technique that works beautifully for many, the All-on-6 system provides an additional level of stability by utilizing two extra Endosteal implants. By distributing the forces of biting and chewing across six points rather than four, we can often achieve a more even distribution of pressure across the jawbone. This extra support can be particularly beneficial for the upper jaw, where the bone is naturally less dense than the lower jaw. For patients with a very strong bite or those who desire the most rigid foundation possible for their Full-Arch bridge, All-on-6 is often the recommended path.

Tailoring the Foundation to Your Bone Density

The choice between four or six implants is largely dictated by your unique anatomy. During your consultation in our Bayside office, we use 3D imaging to assess your bone volume. If bone density is abundant, All-on-4 is a highly efficient and successful way to secure a permanent bridge. However, if the bone is thinner, adding the two extra implants in an All-on-6 configuration provides a "safety net" of stability. In cases where bone is severely lacking in the upper arch, we can even integrate Zygomatic implants into either system to ensure your new teeth have the rock-solid foundation they require.

Longevity and Restoration Options

Both systems allow for a fixed, non-removable bridge that eliminates the need for dentures. However, the All-on-6 system sometimes allows for more flexibility in the materials used for the final teeth, such as heavier, high-translucency zirconia, because the weight is supported by a larger number of anchors.
