Straighter teeth, planned around a longer drive

Coming from Suffolk County is a real drive, which is one reason Invisalign suits many patients here. Most of treatment happens at home: you switch to each new aligner on the schedule Dr. Ilyabayev sets, and check-ups are roughly every 6 to 8 weeks.

Invisalign uses a series of custom, clear plastic aligners instead of metal brackets and wires. The aligners are removable, so you take them out to eat, brush, and floss, and nothing is bonded to your teeth.

Dr. Ilyabayev sees your treatment through from your first consultation to your final retainer, and our in-house dental lab can often handle extras like a nightguard without waiting on an outside lab. Our team speaks English, Spanish, and Russian.

What kind of case is yours?

Treatment length depends mostly on how far your teeth need to move. Start with the description closest to your smile.

Mild crowding or spacing

Small gaps or slightly crowded teeth are usually the quickest cases. Fewer aligners are needed, and many patients finish within a year.

  • Typical lengthOften 6 to 9 months
  • Check-upsRoughly every 6 to 8 weeks
  • Best forSmall gaps, minor crowding

Moderate misalignment

Teeth that are noticeably crowded, rotated, or uneven take more stages of movement, so the aligner series is longer.

  • Typical lengthUsually 12 to 15 months
  • Check-upsRoughly every 6 to 8 weeks
  • Best forCrowding, rotation, uneven teeth

Overbite, underbite, or crossbite

Invisalign can correct many bite problems in addition to straightening. These cases move teeth further and take the longest. Severe bite problems may still call for traditional braces, and Dr. Ilyabayev will tell you plainly if that is the case.

  • Typical lengthOften 15 to 24 months or more
  • Check-upsRoughly every 6 to 8 weeks
  • Best forOverbite, underbite, crossbite

Your treatment, step by step

Every Invisalign case follows the same four stages. How long the middle stage lasts depends on your case.

  1. Step 1

    Consultation and digital scan

A digital scan builds a precise 3D model of your teeth, with no putty impressions. The consultation is free.

  2. Step 2

    Your treatment plan

Dr. Ilyabayev maps every stage of tooth movement in advance, so you can see roughly how your smile will progress.

  3. Step 3

    Wearing your aligners

Wear aligners 20 to 22 hours a day and switch to the next one every one to two weeks, with check-ups roughly every 6 to 8 weeks.

  4. Step 4

    Retainer

Once your teeth reach their final position, a retainer, typically worn at night, holds the result.

Invisalign for teens and adults

Invisalign works well for mild to moderate crowding, gaps, and bite issues in both teens and adults. Invisalign Teen is designed for adolescent patients and includes features that help track wear time.

It does take discipline, since aligners need to be worn 20 to 22 hours a day to stay on schedule. Invisalign is generally not recommended for children whose jaws are still developing.

Cost and payment

Invisalign cost depends mostly on how complex your case is and how long treatment will take. You will get a specific estimate at your free consultation. See Invisalign cost for more on what affects the price.

Bayside Dental Arts accepts PPO insurance and offers financing through CareCredit, Cherry, Alphaeon, and LendingClub.

Questions Suffolk County patients ask

How often do I need to come in during treatment?

Check-up appointments are roughly every 6 to 8 weeks so Dr. Ilyabayev can monitor progress. Between visits, you switch to each new aligner at home on the schedule he sets.

How long does Invisalign take?

It depends on your case. Mild crowding or spacing often resolves in 6 to 9 months, moderate misalignment usually takes 12 to 15 months, and more complex bite corrections can take 15 to 24 months or more.

How many hours a day do I wear the aligners?

Aligners are designed to be worn 20 to 22 hours a day. Take them out only to eat, drink anything other than water, brush, and floss.

Can teenagers get Invisalign?

Yes. Invisalign Teen is designed for adolescent patients and includes features that help track wear time. Invisalign is generally not recommended for children whose jaws are still developing.

Is Invisalign right for every case?

Invisalign is most effective for mild to moderate crowding, spacing, and bite issues. For more severe cases, Dr. Ilyabayev may recommend traditional braces or a combined approach instead.

Does insurance cover Invisalign?

Coverage varies by plan. Bayside Dental Arts works with PPO insurance and offers financing through CareCredit, Cherry, Alphaeon, and LendingClub.
